There are some drugstore beauty products that I will always go back to. These are L’Oreal Paris’s Tinted Serum Foundation, Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer, and my true holy grail: E.l.f.’s Power Grip Primer. Many of you are fans of the stronghold formula, which won a Cosmo Readers’ Choice award last year. e.l.f. just announced that it will be entering the hair space for the first time with a Power Grip Hair Gel Wand and Power Grip Gel Pomade.

These hair products are inspired by the viral primer that people love for keeping makeup in place. They are meant to give your hair the same budge-free staying power. The pomade comes in a huge jar with a hairbrush for only $11 (which is a great deal for how big it is). It’s great for smoothing hair back into sleek updos, styling fringe or defining texture. The pomade also smells fruity and fresh, which is better than most gels, which don’t smell this good. Then there’s the wand, which costs only $5 in true e.l.f. style. It works great for smoothing out flyaways, shaping edges, and making finishes that are free of bumps.

I tried all three products before they came out on March 4, and as you can see, they turned my boring ponytail into a polished updo. The curved bristle brush held on to every stray hair and helped me make a perfect high ponytail (which, to be honest, pulled my face too). These Power Grip hair products turned my frizzy, stringy hair into smooth and shiny hair in just a few swipes and brush strokes. No one is surprised that e.l.f. has done it again. They have come up with drugstore products that work just as well (if not better) than formulas that cost three times as much. I can say with confidence that these are going to be my new favourite hair products.
